Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Old Days Wall is run by Old Days Wall. This page explains what we keep about you, why, and what you can do about it. You can reach us at hello@olddayswall.com.

What we keep

  • Your account: name, email address, and your password stored as a one-way hash, so nobody can read it, including us.
  • Your profile: anything you choose to add, such as city, school, class year, status, the interests, music and films you tick, "about me" and a profile photo.
  • Beliefs, only if you choose: your political view and your religion or belief. These are sensitive information, so we keep them only when you tick that you want them shown on your profile, which is your explicit consent. You can change or remove them, or withdraw that consent, at any time in Edit profile, and they are deleted straight away. We never use them to suggest people, and there is no list of members by belief.
  • What you share: wall posts, comments, likes, photos and captions, private messages (stored encrypted, see below), friendships, invites and blocks.
  • Shared links: when you post a link, our server opens that page once to read its title, short description and picture, and keeps a small copy of the picture to show with your post. The other site sees a visit from our server, not from you.
  • Safety records: reports you send, and failed log-in attempts with the email and IP address used. Failed attempts are deleted after one day.

Why we keep it

Only to run Old Days Wall for you: to show your profile and posts to the people you choose, deliver your messages, send password reset emails, and keep the site safe from spam and abuse. We do not show ads, we do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Who can see what

  • Your name, profile photo, city and school are visible to signed-in members, so friends can find you.
  • Only you and your friends can write on your wall, comment or like your posts.
  • Private messages are end-to-end encrypted. They are encrypted on your device before they are sent, and only you and the person you write to can open them. We store only the encrypted text, so nobody at Old Days Wall, our hosting company, or anyone who got hold of our database can read them. We can see who wrote to whom and when, but not what was written.
  • The key that opens your messages is locked with your password in your browser. We never have that key, so we cannot open your messages for you either: if you reset a forgotten password, the messages you had until then can no longer be opened. Changing your password in Settings keeps them.
  • Because we cannot read messages, we cannot check a message someone reports. If someone harasses you in messages, block them, and you can copy the words into a report on their profile.
  • People you block cannot see your profile or contact you.

Cookies

We use one cookie to keep you logged in. It is needed for the site to work and is not used for tracking.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account in Settings, your profile, posts, comments, likes, messages and photos are deleted straight away. Backup copies are overwritten within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

  • See and download your data at any time with "Download my data" in Settings.
  • Correct your details in your profile and settings.
  • Delete your account and everything in it from Settings.
  • Ask us anything about your data, or object to how we use it, by writing to hello@olddayswall.com. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Age

You need to be at least 16 years old to use Old Days Wall. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell members on the site before the change takes effect.
